While Eric Carlson and Carbondale wear many hats — from designing headquarters for Tag Heuer in Switzerland or Escada in Munich to creating showrooms for BMW in Paris and New York. Probably the strongest portfolio angle is the entire design of luxury retail. Such a dream project is the most visited and most successful luxury brand store in the world: Louis Vuitton at the Champs Elysées in Paris, besides many others. It’s hard to categorize Carbondale’s style, but what we were able to extract is that while the modern approach is essential it always pays respect to existing structure. Plus, graphic elements and the art of light most always come into play and take the viewer into a different world, at least for a short while. MIRUS had the chance to conduct the «10Q» with Eric Carlson and hopefully next time we are in Paris he will take us on a bicycle tour.
